Strike rules:

We follow a "three strikes and you’re out" policy.- Warning: for first time offenses. The moderation team will approach you about your warning and why you were given such. No administrative punishment will be given unless the action is repeated.- Strike 1: For repeated offense. The moderation team will discuss with you why you were given a strike. Your participation from Discord activity will be restricted for a week.- Strike 2: The moderation team will discuss with you why you were given a second strike. Your participation from Discord activity will be restricted for a week.- Strike 3: The moderation team will discuss with you why you were given the final strike. You are permanently banned from the group, both on Discord, and from PB.Ban evasion will be treated seriously.All strikes up to the 3rd may be appealed. Harassments, bullying, and all abusive behavior: personal assault, gaslighting, ship-chasing, forcing other artists to abide your quest, is prohibited and will be treated with utmost seriousness.This list provides general guidelines and is not all-inclusive. The moderation team reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to
- 1) determine which activities are prohibited or violate our terms
- 2) enforce such policies and terms, and
- 3) revise this listThe prohibited behaviour reported or found in all places where TG is moderating: including our Discord Server, and PaintBerri are subject to penalties. In the case of a group action, all of the members involved will be subject to penalties.Reporting system is for incidents that go against TG's TOS and Rules.Please remember that, if you have something personal with another person, we recommend you approach them to resolve things personally first - and if that doesn't work, you do not have to interact with them; however, TG moderation team is subjected to investigate persons who are negatively affecting the community's overall performance and atmosphere. If the team has identified any individuals issuing personal attacks and harassments to multiple TG members outside of TG, the team shall also subject offending members to penalties.

Gas-lighting, Ship-chasing

"Gaslighting" means the behavior of manipulating another person by forcing them to question their thoughts, memories, and the events occurring around them.Below is a non-exhaustive list of behaviour that could constitute gas-lighting in TG:・Making one another feel obligated to co-participate
・Making one another feel obligated to abide a proposed idea, direction of RP, or character dynamics. This is not limited to: forcing one another roll dice without consent, making one another believe character stats dictate story flow
・Making one another feel obligated to change original intent, or idea
・Belittling one another, forcing the other to doubt their own ability to create, or participate

Harrassment

"Harassment" means speech and/or behaviour that inflicts deep emotional distress on another person. It is an extremely serious violation.Below is a non-exhaustive list of behaviour that could constitute harassment in TG:・Discriminatory expressions based on race/nationality/thinking/gender/sexual orientation/gender identity
・Discriminatory expressions about a state/religion/occupation/organization, etc.
・Extreme obscene/indecent expression
・Aggressive behavior towards one another
・Actions that inflict emotional distress using content related to historical events or crimes
・Stalking and / or spamming someone's DM with hateful, or aggressive messages
・Disclosing or indicating personal information such as contact details
・Disclosing or indicating another person's real world personal information without permission
・Other actions that are generally regarded as actions that inflict deep emotional distress on another person

Offensive expression, Aggression

"Offensive expression" means an expression in general that inflicts emotional distress by being offensive to another person. Offensive expression may include:・Aggressive expressions such as violent language/slander/insult/threat.
・Expressions that provoke or belittle another person, such as excessive criticism, negation/ridicule another person's ability to write, draw, or roleplay. This is not limited to comparing skill-level and experience in creating, in-turn invalidating one another's decision-making in a roleplay.
・Excessive use of sarcasm
・Passive aggressive behaviour. This is not limited to: making jokes with malicious intent, with an intention so said action would pass as a joke. Openly, or publicly belittle one another, anonymously or not, where the community can relate and also see.
・Expressions that significantly lack consideration for another person
・Expressions that unilaterally reject another person's opinion
・Expressions that any reasonable person would find offensive
・Expressions that compel a roleplaying style
・Expressions that attempt to unilaterally exclude someone from an RP thread

How do I join?

Group is currently closed.But to start off with Topaz Cafe:
1. Please draw your character (waist-up or full-body, colored) and fill out the details on our character template.
2. Please post your application on the correct channel (#apps) in our Discord Server.
3. The mods will provide feedback, and sort your character into their cafe upon approval.
4. After your character is sorted. Your character is part of Topaz Cafe!You cannot pick your own cafe to work in; your character must be sorted by the mods!

If you are applying an existing character (from our previous groups), you do not need to wait to get sorted. Once you post your oc app on our Discord server, the mods will notify that your character is being added to our database -- then you are good to go!

The four bars are privately founded by Mikhail himself. The four bars explicitly only invite and hire those who are fired by Kinjishi.

All characters in the bars are fully aware of what illicit activities the bars do, regardless of whether or not they participate in them. They cannot be blissfully ignorant and must be implicitly willing to support these activities.⭐ Characters under the age of 18 will NOT be allowed to join the bars under any circumstances, even if they quit/are fired.--
⭐ Pre-existing Bar Character has to be
- at least 22 years old

Behind those doors, however, is one of the biggest markets for intel dealers. The current manager of Ouroboro's Tail has the deepest data of most, if not, all residents of Topaz City.

The Last Virtue would certainly be the place where one lets go of their last lingering sense of reality. A dark and smoky bar, The Last Vitrue somehow attracts very power-hungry individuals who would personally fight the employees for a certain something -- this something is indeed consumables not medically approved anywhere. As they would say, to break off anew does come with a high price.

About three decades ago...

About three decades ago, the Kinjishi Inc. built four cafes at the heart of Topaz City. The cafes immediately became the main attraction and the dream for all youngsters to work in.Kinjishi Inc. publicly announced that the goal of the cafes was to not only provide the best services and food but to also help further fund and develop Topaz City.

The First Ambush (1994, Nov 4-5, 1 ish day)

Just about a couple of years after the cafes were built, an extraordinary event shook the peace of the city - a group of supernatural "monsters" attacked Topaz City. Although it seemed like the "monsters" were successfully fended off by the police force, Kinjishi Inc. (with the former CEO) responded with almost immediate deployment of a new "technology" to their employees, which granted them the ability to yield weapons against supernatural beings.

The Second Ambush (2000, March 23-25, 2 ish days)

The second time happened just about six years after the first one.They would call it the Second Ambush, which was Kinjishi's official First Time operating as city defenders. It was seen as successful because the damage was significantly less with the help of Topaz. But the sacrifices and damage this incident had left the people of Topaz City with fear.To save the city from its depressing state, Kinjishi (with the former CEO) manipulated the media and deleted most details from all possible records. Taking advantage of the strange Mystic outbreak, Kinjishi also took part in causing victims to have confused memories. With no solid evidence, the incident remained the most controversial event throughout Topaz City's history.A lot of deaths were unnamed and unknown. With the protection of the Topaz, cafe employees' minds were not so easy to be tempered. The existing Cafe employees would be silenced and manipulated. Kinjishi (the former CEO) took advantage of the ignorance of new hires and created a brand new environment for the cafes.The cafe employees who knew what happened ended up quitting, living in fear. Some of them were assassinated.

Mikhail taking over (2018)

Eighteen summers would pass by so fast. The events of the Second Ambush started to be washed away as an odd controversy.Mikhail was 25 years old when he took over his father as an executive. His father, Hans became the current CEO of Kinjishi.It did not take long for Mikhail to learn about the reality of the Second Ambush. He found his way to connect with the remaining survivors of the Second Ambush, and found the Four Bars (2019) as a safe place for them.(During this time, these four bars were merely a hiding place for those who had fallen victim to Kinjishi. They did not have Topazes to use)

The Third Ambush and Mikhail's Contract (2019, June 8-11, 4 days)

During the same year after the Four Bars were established under Mikhail, a Third Ambush happened on the outskirts of the town. The current CEO, Hans, walked the same path as the previous CEO.The cafe employees once again witnessed the horrors of death, yet the names of those who had fallen were once again hidden from history like they never existed. It was convenient because the Third Ambushed happened outside of town. Erasing this event from history would be easier than ever.History would then repeat itself.Cafe employees quitting, getting fired, silenced, manipulated, and assassinated. Mikhail who had witnessed all this with his own eyes had a new plan.Mikhail decided to establish a contract with those in his bars. The terms were simple: Mikhail shall bestow them the power of Topaz again, and they may use the power of Topaz however they wish -- to protect themselves, seek revenge, indulge in power, ... but they must assist Mikhail as he asks for it.Since then, Mikhail had been constantly sending his employees from the Four Bars far and wide, helping him make connections, as well as his little project in distributing Mystics.

important: should stats reflect in rp?

Stats are not Personality traits.Stats are here to give your characters any bit of advantage in any events that might happen in group.
Having 0 in a stat does not inherently make your OC bad in that stat and we should not categorize/stereotype OCs by their numbers—however, if you want your OC to be abysmal at cooking that is fine.0~15 is not a scale, only a bonus.For example:
- Character with high Creativity does not automatically make them artists. It is merely, as stated, the ability the come up with new recipes.
- Character with high STR does not necessarily make your character beefier as it was intended to be your character's ability to deal damage; however, if you want your character's STR growth being coherent with your character's growth in physical strength from going to the gym often, leading them to deal more damage, you are more than welcome to do that!!
- Character with high INT does not make your character 'smarter' as INT was intend to be your character's ability to control your magic, and the potency of your magic. It does not, in any way, translate to your character's level of intelligence.TG Events are subject to translate stats to be used in another context for mechanics (e.g using AGI to determine how many steps you can walk, using LUK to determine potion effects); however, please remember stats are not the end-all-be-all.It's important to remember stats are parts of your experience as a Kinjishi Cafe Employee and not necessarily part of your personality.

What if I want to make changes?

Like the classic TG, anywhere outside of Topaz City is up to your creation. Artists may create their own country, town, culture etc. for their characters, but please keep in mind that applied characters must be human.Mythical / supernatural species currently have only been seen and reported from one region in the current story progression; please avoid placing these in your character's backstory.Please imagine this world to be set year 2020-2030 on planet Earth, with a fantasy twist where magic and abilities exist.Okay, but what's allowed and what's not!?

Kinjishi's contract / NDA

Application to Kinjishi's cafes are likely via online. Their application forms can be accessed online.When shortlisted, characters will schedule an 1-on-1, in person, interview with Kinjishi's hiring manager, possibly Mikhail(executive) himself, or Bellamarie (HR). Thereby, they will ask for your availability like a regular cafe job would.But they will also make sure your character acknowledge that your character will be serving to protect the city when needed -- that they will be entrusted with Kinjishi's "technology", the Topaz Gem, and make sure your character agree that they will not use their weapon for malicious intents.If offered a position. Kinjishi will e-mail your character a detailed contract form, NDA, as well as conduct handbook. (in PDF form)After sending Kinjishi the signed agreements. Kinjishi will schedule an orientation with your character. The orientation happens at the Sparring Grounds for your characters to summon their weapon the first time. Their Topaz Gem and uniform will be handed to them, and they will be told when their first day would be!This orientation could be done with more than one newly hired cafe employees. It is not always one-to-one.

Kinjishi makes themselves very clear that, you are not allowed to summon your weapon unless needed. In other words, you characters cannot use their weapons to catch bugs if their weapon happens to be a bug net.The Gems are heavily monitored by Kinjishi. They know if your characters have summoned their weapon at 3am in the morning.

The fact that your Gems can "summon weapons" is a public knowledge, and your characters can talk to people about it; however, any additional knowledge they have earned during missions, expeditions are all classified and is top secret. It is certainly strictly under NDA.However, like in real world, people disclose and leak things anyway even they are under NDA, at that point it's more or less a personal choice... Like "would you allow yourself to disclose such?"

In case, in the story, your character has been spotted using their weapon against another human-being, causing destruction and also harm to one another. Your character will be fired without question, canonically!Your character is ALSO not safe when being caught exposing Kinjishi's classified information, your character can be canonically sued and put in jail if Kinjishi has caught them breaking their NDA contract.Your character will be demoted into an NPC, if worse, blocked from being used again. Their levels will not be refunded.

A starting character's "weapon" is bound to them. They are able summon their weapon through the topaz on their ties at any time - through the Topaz.

July 2020: Event 1 - THE CHILLY SPICE

Kinjishi's executive, Mikhail sent the cafe workers on a mini-mission up into the snowy mountains in search of a mysterious minty flower to add to the menus.It’s revealed this flower was thought to be extinct for millennia! The media goes crazy with this discovery.

When they return, new managers have been hired to help take care of the cafes.

August 2020: Event 2 - DO NOT UNDERESTIMATE DEX

Summer break! The cafe workers are treated to a week-long vacation from work, with beachside festivities provided by Kinjishi - as well as the main event, a beach dodgeball tournament! Anne’s Garden proves victorious.At dusk on the last day of vacation, a mysterious, enormous whale-like creature shows up at the shore. The media is once again worked into a frenzy over this new species, connecting it with the reemergence of even more plants that were thought long-extinct.

August 2020: UNUSUAL DREAMS

After summer vacation, everyone from the cafes were visited by unusual dreams - dreams where they meet a different, unfamiliar version of themself, who only warns them ominously of what’s to come.

MARCH 2021: event 5 - TO THE LUSH UNKNOWNS

The characters are sent halfway around the world, to the region of Kan-ro-Sin, for their first Official Kinjishi Mission.

They are to camp in the wilderness for two weeks to investigate the sudden explosion of unusual new plantlife - and see which ingredients can be used to expand the cafe menus, of course!After their expedition, they stay in the Sekiyo Inn, a relaxing onsen venue, and participate in a cookoff with their new ingredients. The winning dishes are promised to become new menu items for the cafes!Afterwards, they’re free to enjoy the water, relax in the gardens, and explore the town of Qin-Su-Min!

After a hectic trip in Qin-Su-min,
Kinjishi's laboured employees had finally returned to Topaz City.
The harvested plants were handed over to Kinjishi before the cafe employees had left Qu-Su-min. It seems like Kinjishi has been working with, or rather, sponsoring scientists all over the world to discover and research these new plants.
After a couple weeks, mid-way into May, the following news article has become a hot topic within Topaz City:

The cafes returning back to business (yet again!), and it seems like things are 'going back to normal'... yet again.

Being close to the coast, the Topaz City was once a nameless settlement. Villages in the area were sparsely populated and residents mainly did farming and fishing for living.There was no existing records of the details, but the residents of Topaz City believed that a company named Kinjishi Inc. changed Topaz City forever since their settlement in the city around 500 years ago. The trading post Kinjishi Inc. established in Topaz City turned the city to a regular trade center.The coastal city gained rapid economic improvement and attracted many foreign investments and trading through the years. Topaz City very soon became worldly well-known for their diverse goods and practices.Kinjishi Inc. remained mysterious but a popular name around the world. The company had been admired by many as they had become the main organization that helped develop, and had almost complete control over Topaz City, now a highly developed cosmopolitan city.

A widely used language understood by most of the people in Kan-ro-Sin. Kan-ro-Sin is a region that possesses one of the most amount of distinct dialects in the world.

Qin-su-Min (Town)

Town that is mostly based off rural towns of Japan. Requires a 13-hour plane ride + another train from Topaz City.The world-famous hot spring, Sekiyo Inn, is in this town.

Kezkhenian Region mainly consists of mountains and steppe. Tall buildings do not exist here. It is said that Kezkhenia was the Battleground of the Gods before, which has given birth to a few distinctive cultures.Technology is non-existence here (roaming doesn't work here).

The Golden Seal

The central downtown area located at the heart of Topaz City, The Golden Seal was once the nameless slum!All four cafes are located at in The Golden Seal (indicated with 🟊 in the map).Shopping malls, theaters, arcades, hotels, bars... this distract is packed with entertainment!

The sparring grounds

A sparring ground is located between the four cafes in the Golden Seal. This facility is built exclusively for cafe employees to train themselves.

The ivory meadows

Located at the West side of the city.The ivory meadow has a few street markets selling all sorts of random goods. They also have their own shopping district Akihabara ! There is a large vacant grass area at the center of the district.A 2.5 meter (8.2 feet) high majestic
white tiger statue plops at the West side of The Ivory Meadows. It is said to represent Byakko, the Guardian of the West.The Ivory Meadows is named after the "white grass field" that spreads between the hills at the southwest exit. The black forest

Located at the North side of the city.The Black Forest district is mostly residential. It is the quietest district out of all 5 districts. The physical location of the four Bars.Please be reminded that these bars are very discrete. Normally, people do not find these places without having the darkest connections and purpose.Your characters are not allowed to discover their location online or in any way unless being invited by the bar employees themselves.Please use your best judgment and feel free to reach out to a mod or bar manager if you want to double-check if it's okay to 'stumble across.

What is the sparring ground?

Sparring Ground Design and ReferenceThe sparring ground is located between the four cafes in the Golden Seal. This facility is built exclusively for cafe employees to train themselves.

--- There are topaz gems embedded in each pillar. They activates upon Topaz weapons being summoned in the area. These diamond-shaped gems create an invisible wall between each pillar (the walls are slightly visible, looking iridescent like a bubble).These walls and the pillars are unbreakable by weapons. The only way to deactivate this wall is have all topaz weapons in the area sheathed.
--- The floor, however, is breakable up to a certain depth (2 meter / 6.5 feet ish). The floor is repaired by Kinjishi.
--- There is open seating area
--- There is a few steps of stairs leading up to the arena

- A device with a tempered topaz gem will be given to users upon registering to use the sparring ground.
- Key points
--- Like the Gems on the pillars. This device opens and activates upon detecting a topaz weapon being drawn. Device can be pocketed.
--- This device provides an invisible coating to the wearer's skin.
--- The coating strengthens the wearer's tolerance to topaz weapons. Any damage dealt, however, will still feel as realistic, and impact (falling, being thrown to the wall) may still bruise the wearer.
--- This means the users' clothes can still tear. Bullets will bounce off their skin, but it will create impact still.
--- This device has only been proven to work against Topaz weapons. It has not proven to be working, or protecting against mystic in general.

The Four Cafes are the highlights of Topaz City. They are operated by a company called Kinjishi Inc.... Who is the Kinjishi anyway?

The Grimoire

Located in the East side of The Golden Seal.A high-end cafe with dim lights and vintage interior. Famous for their Blue Mountain brews and cheesecakes. Although The Grimoire does not serve much varieties in their menu, they have become a famous dating spot.

The Fiery

Located in the South side of The Golden Seal.A casual cafe that serves brunch food such as toasts, sandwiches, egg benedicts, etc. The cafe serves lunch sets which made it a famous gathering hub for younger generation to study and hang-out.

Sugar Haven

Located in the West side of The Golden Seal.
An anime maid cafe that focuses on consumer experience with uh, exquisite services. Famous for their creative sweet treats, their macaroons are especially delicious!

Antoinette's garden

Located in the North side of The Golden Seal.Decorated with natural interiors, Antoinette's Garden ("Anne's Garden") is a botanical cafe with a calming atmosphere. Famous for their black tea and eastern treats, they also serve everyone's favourite... Bubble Tea!

What is TG?

TG (Topaz Guardian) is an art-based roleplay group created in 2009. TG originally was a fantasy group that featured many young adventurers attending an academy with the goal to get stronger and protect the giant Topaz.The group has gone through years of meme, reboot, time-skip, many things. We are back for another reboot!!

What happens to former teacher characters??

There are manager positions in TG Cafe. However, they are on Claim system and slots are limited.

Can my character have monster companions / pets?

Please avoid that as much as you can. You may speak with the mods and see what we may be able to offer.

Is this world is still based on the TG world? Or a parallel place where rules are different?

It's parallel;
In the original TG, we had a giant piece of crystal that basically powers everything and kept peace and balance. In this world, at least in the current story progression, I would say it feels much more like planet Earth.Human settlements are much more in peace than the original TG world. Monsters don't really roam around causing troubles. We do not regularly spot supernatural species as well.Technology wise, you may create your own country that has more advanced research and technology.But the best we have in Topaz City is probably apple products

Do the cafes serve alcohol??

Can my character retain magical charateristics? Such as cursed body parts and magic reacting eyes.

For now, unfortunately no.Right now, the settings feels like a lot like planet Earth: Monsters do not exist; supernatural rarely exist (please refer to story), but things will eventually go more magical / fantasy as the group story progresses.Your character(s) will eventually interact with supernatural species a lot more; we will be discovering supernatural inhabitants. There will also be options to have your character develop supernatural characteristics. Things will start to get a lot more like old TG as we go!I would recommend, perhaps, have a plan of them developing these characteristics as the story progresses.But it will probably be a while until we get to that point! For now, we will be taking one step at a time!
